Production & Tax Incentives - LA Wildfires - Free Workshop: Seeking Representation 101
By Abigail Hardin, February 05, 2025
Happy Wednesday, UTD!
Since our last Industry Insight email, the Los Angeles wildfires have wreaked havoc on so many lives and upended production norms once again. First and foremost, I hope this email finds you safe, healthy, and happy. The fires have reminded me, yet again, of the importance of community. In times of trauma, we are called to come together and support one another. Sometimes that can even be just reaching out and asking how someone is doing. With so much focus on the real-life, immediate, and necessary actions, we often overlook the power of a simple genuine connection.
With the turmoil plaguing our country and world, I encourage you to reach out to someone and check in. We can be a beacon of light for others in a time of uncertainty and darkness.
Below you can find pertinent articles on the LA wildfires including the impact on production, free self-tape kits for those affected, and how LA is committing to building back.
While production in LA was no doubt affected in the early moments of the wildfires, the industry knows the importance of keeping the camera rolling. We are seeing many green lights and production has been steadily picking up over the last two weeks. Expect a busy February and March as all US markets look to make the most of the back-to-work New Year energy.
February is also a great time to get ready for a new representation campaign. If you are looking to find a talent agent or talent manager or refresh your current representation, Annie and I have you covered. We will be hosting our ever-popular Seeking Representation 101 workshop with Actors Connection on February 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM ET. The online workshop is free but registration is required.
