Pilots & Upfronts - Major Talent Agency Shakup - More Strikes?
By Abigail Hardin, February 13, 2024
Happy Tuesday, UTD!
Happy early Valentine's Day! In the spirit of Valentine's Day, our founder, Annie Chadwick, has a message and exercise on the importance of self-love. As we often mention in our workshops. No one knows or believes in your talent as much as you do. This is why positive self-confidence, and self-love, are absolutely crucial to help you weather the storm of acting and move your career forward with laser speed and focus. Read more from Annie below and remember to spend a little time and attention on yourself tomorrow. 😘
There were several big news articles over the past two weeks, I encourage you to spend time combing through the articles below. Most notably, legendary talent agency A3 is closing its doors. No news yet as to what will happen to the dozens of talent agents who worked for A3 or the thousands of clients that they represented. Stay tuned for more news on new agencies being formed and how this will affect the industry.
There is a lot of news bubbling about pilot and upfront season. With last year's strikes in the rearview, there are even more questions about pilot season and what to expect. That is why Annie and I will be hosting a Pilot Season 2024 workshop next week with Actors Connection.
In this workshop, we will be discussing:
- How did the 2023 Strikes affect the 2024 Pilot Season and Film/TV production?
- Do you know the new trends changing the format of Pilot Season and the overall process?
- What Pilots and new TV series are currently casting or filming in your area?
- What is the wheel of the year for Pilot and TV production?
- What is the audition process for booking a series regular and recurring guest star on a Pilot
- Do you know how you can find out more details about Pilots and new series as they are announced, prior to casting announcements?
- What comes after Pilot Season?
The workshop is free but registration is required. We hope you can join us!

February Motivational Tip from Annie
Since there is so much attention on love this month, I'd like to focus on the most important relationship - the one we have with ourselves. After all, we are our primary companion through life. I have worked with Louise Hay's affirmations and philosophies for many years and one that I love is her mirror work technique. Louise created mirror work exercises to help you begin a self-love journey that will forever change the way you see yourself, how you see others, and ultimately, how you see the world. I'd like to invite you to explore this simple technique.
Mirror Work
The Mirror work principle is based on the premise that the quality of your relationship with yourself influences the quality with everyone and everything else you want to create.  It takes only a second to say, “Looking good,â€Â or “Isn’t this fun?â€Â It’s so important to give ourselves little positive messages throughout the day. Practice every day saying to yourself in the mirror or when you see your reflection.
I Love You
I Really Love You
(Your Name) I really Love You and all that you are doing. You are the Joy of my life
The more you use mirrors for complimenting yourself, approving of yourself, and supporting yourself during difficult times, the deeper and more enjoyable your relationship with yourself will become.
