Negotiations & Strikes - Production Updates - A.I.
By Abigail Hardin, June 28, 2023
Happy Wednesday, UTD!
I hope you are finding rest and relaxation during these Summer weeks. In the last two weeks, you can really feel the industry beginning to take a Summer holiday. Regional theatre auditions are starting to wrap up, and Film & TV announcements have slowed. This is a natural part of the year's cycle. Make sure to allow some downtime for fun in the sun. 🌞
Some very positive news came out of the closed doors SAG-AFTRA negotiations this week. All signs seem "positive" that an actor's strike could be averted. While an agreement has not yet been made the union seems optimistic about the progress of negotiations.
"I just want to assure you that we are having an extremely productive negotiations that are laser-focused on all of the crucial issues you told us are most important to you," union president Fran Drescher said. "We're standing strong and we're going to achieve a seminal deal."
Read more on this below in the Negotiations & Strikes section.
During this Summer and negotiation downtime, I encourage you to carve out a small amount of time to refresh your marketing materials and define clear goals for a busy Fall. We hope you will join us at our upcoming workshop where we will be discussing Seeking Representation during the WGA Strike. As always we will be answering your UTDA and career questions.
