SAG-AFTRA Negotiations Continue - New Soundstages - Artios Award Nominations
By Abigail Hardin, November 08, 2023
Happy November, UTD!
We are still waiting on pins and needles for a resolution to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The AMPTP sent their "best, last, and final offer" over the weekend. Yesterday, SAG-AFTRA refused to accept the offer citing differences on many issues including AI. The proposal included a clause that allowed studios and streamers to use scans of deceased performers without the consent of their estate of the guild. 😱 Luckily, the producers did not fully walk away. The two sides were in negotiations yesterday and into the evening. The hope, industry wide, is that a deal will be days away. 🤞
The TV & Theatre Nominations for the Artios Awards were announced this past week. Presented by the Casting Society of America, the Artios Awards honor the best originality, creativity, and contribution of casting to the overall quality of a film, television series, short film, short-form series, and theatre production. As we mention every year, the Artios Awards are a great opportunity to reach out to nominated casting directors and congratulate them on their success! Be sure to include any upcoming news, contact info, important links, etc. Active Up-To-Date Actor members can find more tips and advice on Cover Letters, Follow-Up Notes, and more in our Resources section.
I hope you are using these pre-holiday weeks wisely and are getting ready for a busy 2024 season!
Create a great week! ✌ï¸
