SAG-AFTRA Negotiations Enter Day 5 - WGA Deal is Ratified - Production Plans
By Abigail Hardin, October 11, 2023
Happy Wednesday, UTD!
As the SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP negotiations enter into the 5th day of talks, many are hopeful that a deal is right around the corner. The two sides have met every other business day since the beginning of last week. In addition to A.I. regulation, and streaming residuals, one topic that is on the table is audition pay. A recent article shares one former casting director's opinion on the matter - worrying that audition pay would mean fewer seen auditions and be the end of the developmental actor. What are your thoughts? 🤔
As many of you know, the way we stay true to our name is through our regular monthly update calls and emails to the industry. From these calls, we get a sense of how the entertainment business energy is flowing. From the responses this month we are noticing an eagerness for agencies to update their contact and staff info which signals to us that everyone is eager to get BACK TO WORK!
Adding to the new back-to-work energy, we are excited that many of our Up-To-Date Actor clients are getting new representation on a regular basis! If you are seeking new representation, we encourage you to get your submission materials in top shape and start your representation campaign this month. To help you with this, Annie and I will be back at Actors Connection this month with a free online workshop on Seeking Representation on Both Coasts. In this workshop, we will explore the similarities and differences between both coasts, the first steps in starting a new representation campaign, the interview, and the collaboration. We hope you can join us! More information and registration via the link below.

I hope you are using this time productively and gearing up for a busy late-fall production season. Don't be playing catch up once the strike is over. With the WGA strike over, new projects are being announced, writer's rooms are open, and the industry is doing as much pre-production as possible to hit the ground running as soon as possible.
Create a great week!
