CA Tax Incentive - Seeking Rep Workshop - Pitching Your Project
By Abigail Hardin, October 30, 2024
Happy Halloween, UTD!
We have two months remaining in 2024! As we look to finish the year with a focus on our career goals we can also start to look ahead to what is promising to be a chock-full production schedule. There is no reason to sit on the couch and wait for the new year. To quote Hugh Laurie, "It's a terrible thing to wait until you're ready. There is almost no such thing as ready. Now is as good a time as any."
Here are some proactive suggestions to keep the creative energy flowing:
- Revisit your 2024 career goals and choose one to target and commit to achieving in the next 2 months.
- Explore upgrading your self-tape setup. You must have the best quality production values for your self-tapes which include backdrop, lighting, and sound.
- When you are not getting self-tape auditions, continue recording scenes and monologues to practice your technique and production set-up.
- Explore writing a script or logline for a short film to develop with your actor colleagues.
- Research new projects that will be produced in your market in 2025. When you are a perfect fit for these projects, get ahead of the casting curve and self-submit to casting directors, directors, and writers. If you have representation, bring the project to their attention.
- If you want to start 2025 off with new representation, now is the time to prepare your materials, get referrals, upgrade your reels, and get quotes from industry professionals about your work. This takes time and focus, so start now. Annie and I will be offering an Actors Connection seminar in November - Seeking Representation on Both Coasts
An artist is inspired to create every day. Creativity comes from inner passion and doesn't wait to be asked.
Keep soaring,
