Description: The show is stylistically eclectic and ambitious, and the company should all feel like warm, idiosyncratic, and decidedly un-Broadway individuals. All performers should be very comfortable with audience interaction and improvisation. Ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee” for all the non-Scots) dancing is not about getting it right. It’s not about being the best. Instead, it’s about taking part, and sometimes guiding, with humility; humour; and ease. We’re looking for actors who take their work seriously but not themselves. Who can feel relaxed in a show that will shift and change every performance. And who are able to embody the authenticity, silliness, warmth, and occasional moments of anarchy that inevitably arise in any ceilidh.
