Description: Damn Yankees was originally staged on Broadway in 1955 and centers on a baseball fan who makes a bargain with the devil, trading his soul to become a star batter for his favorite team in their battles with the Yankees. In the original production, Joe, the batter, played for the Washington Senators. The revival relocates the story to Baltimore, and Joe is a Black fan of the Orioles, motivated in his quest by the racial discrimination that limited his father’s baseball career
